Marijuana Dosing Recommendations For Stress, Pain, And Other Ailments

Marijuana dosing can vary significantly per patient based on an individual’s tolerance, the strain of marijuana, and the method of consumption. Once approved for your Florida Medical Marijuana card, Dr. Fernando Fandiño-Sende will provide personalized recommendations for the best dose and consumption method for your ailment. However, here are some general guidelines:

Start Low and Go Slow!

To gauge individual reactions and tolerance levels, it’s advisable to start with a low dose and gradually increase as needed. This approach helps new patients to determine what works best for them..

Dr. Fernando Fandiño-Sende might recommend a THC and CBD ratio. Both THC and CBD are in cannabis. Patients get the best of both worlds when combined.  THC is psychoactive and produces the “high,” while CBD is non-intoxicating – both have unique therapeutic benefits. Ratios affect the potency and effects of cannabis. For instance, higher CBD ratios may provide more pain relief without much psychoactive effect.  CBD allows for higher doses of THC to be taken without feeling high.

Different methods of consuming marijuana (smoking, vaping, edibles, oils, tinctures, and topicals) can have varying onset times and durations of effects. For example, edibles tend to have a delayed onset but longer-lasting effects known to many as a “body high” compared to smoking or vaping which hits almost instantly and doesn’t last as long.

Some individuals find benefit from microdosing, which involves taking small amounts of marijuana to achieve subtle therapeutic effects without experiencing strong psychoactive effects.  We have patients who snack on chocolate pieces throughout the day to maintain the therapeutic benefits of THC.

For pain management, higher THC strains are more effective. Medical Marijuana works by affecting cannabinoid receptors in the brain and body, altering pain perception and reducing inflammation.

Once approved, our patients have found relief for insomnia, nausea, and muscle spasms with Medical Marijuana. Specific marijuana strains have been known to target different medical conditions.  Indica is best for insomnia while Sativa may keep you awake.

Remember, individual responses to marijuana can vary greatly. What works well for one person may not have the same effects for another. Talk with Dr. Fernando Fandiño-Sende or the LifeCannMD team to determine the best treatment regimen for your needs.
